As a thank you to our clients for completing the survey we entered all respondents into a prize draw for a £50 voucher of their choice. This year’s winner is…

Wendy Crowe at Zurich

At eg we are committed to our clients making the best use of our products and services. Our annual client satisfaction survey required clients to complete the survey to ensure we are constantly achieving the highest standards of service as we are always striving to improve. The purpose of this survey was to find out what they expect from eg with the Helpdesk and Software Support service.

We asked clients to rate different factors shown below on the basis of importance and satisfaction:

Supportive partnership/relationship between our two firms

Ability to deal with fault reporting in a timely manner

Effective communication

Delivering systems enhancements in line with customer needs

Quality of development

Behaviours of our software support employees

Understanding of your client situation/ability to work within their culture

Ability to deliver on time

The results show an increase in the importance of systems enhancements and the quality of developments provided as well as how effectively they can be matched and fitted around the companies’ current activities and culture.

It has also shown an overall improvement of how satisfied our clients are with the quality of developments supplied and how eg have understood their situation and fitted into working alongside their culture.

Ian Clifford, a member of eg’s software testing team, who has 10 years experience in Software testing has successfully passed his ISEB Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing. This has enabled Ian to progress to a higher level of competency in the specialism.

The Intermediate certificate builds on the pre-requisite Foundation level certificate and tests the ability to analyse and interpret data and scenarios when testing software applications and systems. Topics covered are those considered to be essential knowledge for an advanced level professional such as: best practice for reviews of documentation associated with building software systems; risk analysis; management of the testing process and testing techniques.

Although it is recommended that candidates attend a formal 4 day training course, Ian studied for and sat the exam in his own time using only the course text. This demonstrates his commitment to advancing his skills and expertise.

A pass in this certificate provides evidence that Ian has proven analytical ability, having gained the advanced knowledge and practical skills in the key topics required for practicing software testing.

The qualification consolidates Ian’s numerous years of experience as a software systems test analyst and will help ensure that eg continues to build software of the highest quality and standard possible.

Tony Lynock, eg’s Head of Software commented “as an organisation passionate about delivering quality products to our customers, eg is committed to the continuous development of a professional software testing team. I am therefore delighted with Ian’s achievement which further strengthens eg’s software development credentials across the whole development lifecycle”.

The ‘eg pink panthers’ consist of Mark Cooper, Jonathan Hayward and John Moss, all members of the Operations Management software team at eg solutions plc (eg). They successfully completed the Olympic Team Relay event of the London Triathlon on Saturday 7 August 2010 to raise money for the Company’s chosen charity, Doornkop Needy Children Centre (DNCC).The team of 3 (pictured below) completed the race in a fantastic time of 03:30:18. Jonathan Hayward completed the 1 mile swim in 31:33, Mark Cooper completed the 40km cycle in 01:23:17 and John Moss completed the 10km run in 01:27:28.

So far we have raised £710 for the Doornkop Needy Children’s Centre which is a fantastic achievement! If you have sponsored the team please send your pledges in as soon as possible.

Mark, John and Jonathan would like to thank everyone who has made a donation so far!… and of course, if you’d still like to make a donation the lines are still open to make a pledge at www.doornkop.co.uk.

The money raised is vital for the future of the children and their survival and eg are proud to have sponsored the team. It costs approximately £40.00 per child per year to supply daily food supplies of e-pap to keep the children strong and healthy – that’s less than £3.50 per month. Around £125 can provide one child’s food, clothing and school fees for a year.

The aim of the Doornkop Needy Children Centre (DNCC) is to provide shelter, clothing, education and love to those orphans and destitute children from the age of 0 – 5 years.

The Centre, situated in Snakepark, a poverty-stricken area of Soweto, was started in August 2002 by two concerned mothers who were aware of the fact that many children – some abused, some abandoned, but most just plain poor – desperately needed some sort of crèche facility and care. They approached the community, secured permission to use a church gathering point and now look after 160 children.
