What is BBBEE?
The South African government has introduced a comprehensive system to help integrate black people into society, post apartheid, and therefore encourage and assist the transition of economic empowerment. Companies operating in SA have to achieve Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (BBBEE) accredited status in support of these objectives. Businesses are classified by their size and measured in terms of how successfully they comply with seven elements, covering aspects such as equity ownership (shares in the business), management of the business, skills development, employment equity (staffing), procurement (where you purchase your supplies), enterprise development and corporate social responsibility.
