Fundraising Update

Donations and Fundraising activities have helped provide learning materials, toys, clothes and pratical items for the crèche. Without these regular donations we would not be able to provide the level of support needed.

Here are some of the fundraising events we have organised and funds that have been raised.

Run for fun 2011 was completed by Wendy Jeavons, Kay Moodley and,Nols Mbele from eg South Africa and Namsi, Senior Carer at the Doornkop crèche (DNCC).  All participated in the event doing the 10km walk / run which raised R8,775, enough funds to organise a great Christmas party for the children at DNCC.

Educational equipment was purchased for the crèche after £300 was raised through a raffle at the eg Christmas party.  Everyone donated money (a note) and wrote their name on to be entered into a draw and winners were selected at random.  All proceeds went to Doornkop.

eg pink panthers – 3 members of eg’s software team successfully completed the olynmpic team relay event of the London Triathlon in August 2010. The ‘pink panthers’ raised £710 for the charity. It took the team 3:30:18 to complete with Jonathon Haywood completing a 1mile swim in 31:30, Mark Cooper completed a 40k cycle in 1:23:17 and John Moss completed a 10k run in 1:27:28.

At the eg operational excellence awards® 2010 guests were asked to donate to the DNCC on the night through the raffle. They were asked to write their name on the money donated and at the end of the night a winner was drawn. The money collected was split 50/50 between the lucky winner and DNCC.  Additional pledges were subsequently made after the event making a total of £3500 raised in one evening.

eg fairies – On Tuesday 10 March 2009, three members of eg’s Software Development team dressed up as fairies and raised over £1,000 for the eg company charity, The Doornkop Needy Children’s Centre, South Africa.

Easter egg raffle – eg employees raised £306 by participating in a raffle to win a giant chocolate Easter Egg which was kindly donated by Chris Fryer, Client Relationship Manager at eg.

£’s for lbs – Elizabeth Gooch, eg’s CEO aimed to turn unwanted pounds into cash by participating in a sponsored slim. Elizabeth’s target was to raise £1000 and lose 14lb in 9 weeks.  Elizabeth successfully raised £1120 for DNCC which went towards key equipment and educational toys.
